i think its more like a scab.

"reading, conversation, environment, culture, heroes, mentors, nature--all are lottery tickets for creativity. scratch away at them and you'll find out how big a prize you've won."
-twyla

why a scab?
scratch away at them and you'll see what kind of a mark is left.
some are permanent. and then, some fade.

twyla mentions that "scratching" can look like borrowing or appropriating,
but it is essential.

100% agree.

so if i delve into such items like movies, books, music, people, and places that give me inspiration--i can write a whole epic and the list will still grow.

more to come!

in terms of "borrowing" items-take for example, the kills music video. lovee the indie, rock, vintage slash amateur feel of the video. the switches from close ups to wide shots have a dramatic effect. things to look out for in my upcoming video? shifts from black and white to color, and hipster sunglasses !
